LA Trail Hikers 2nd Annual Blood Drive

Join the LA Trail Hikers on May 20, 2012 from 9am to 2pm at Sorensen Park for their 2nd Annual Blood Drive! This year we’re teaming up with our friends, the LA Trail Bikers and the San Gabriel Valley Trail Walkers, in hopes of bringing as many possible donors to help save lives. The blood drive will run from 9am to 2pm. This event is not limited to group members, so bring your friends and family.

When: Sunday May 20, 2012

Time: 9:00am -2:00pm

Location: Sorenson Park
11419 Rose Hedge Drive, Whittier, CA

***Donate Blood and get a FREE t-shirt or a coupon for a pint of Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream***

Before donating you must know the following:

*Be in good health
*Eat a nutritious meal
*Be at least 17years old (or 16 yrs old with a signed parental
consent)
*Drink plenty of water
*You can donate blood every 56 days
*Weigh at least 113lbs
*No tattoos or piercings within the last 12 months
*Bring a valid photo ID

Look out for the PIH-Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital mobile unit parked in the Sorenson Park parking lot!

BBQ Potluck – 1pm to 4pm
In addition, we’ll be have a having a BBQ Potluck at the park. Feel free to bring any food, snacks, drinks, condiments, or utencils you can to share with everyone. We look forward to having you there with us!

Bring your bikes & locks because later in the day, our friends, the LA Trail Bikers, will go on a beginner’s bike ride around the area and get to know some of your fellow riders who enjoy to ride as well.

There is fun for everyone! Basketball courts, playgrounds, softball fields, & much more!

- All Wednesday hikes are Evening hikes starting at 7:00pm unless otherwise indicated. Meeting location will be determined as the day of the hike arrives so there are no conflicts with Griffith Park related events.
- Weekend hikes are primarily in the morning unless otherwise indicated.
- The hike detail pages will not have the updated information, but will display the correct dates, times, and assigned hike lead as the hike approaches its scheduled date.
- All hikes are subject to change. We may even add in additional hikes that may not appear on the original posting.

Happy Birthday LA Trail Hikers!

On August 17, 2009, a highly committed, unnamed, group of friendly hikers became the LA Trail Hikers. From a simple conversation that sparked from the word “hiking,” to a successful group that hikes all over greater Los Angeles, it was not foreseen that the LA Trail Hikers would become a such a hit with the people of its land. On August 17, 2011, the LA Trail Hikers will be celebrating it’s second year of existence. The group has grown from eight to thousands of hikers from all over Southern California. Join us in Celebrating with a Potluck hike out in one of our oldest hiking areas, Griffith Park. We’ll have a short hike in Northeast side of Griffith Park and have a grand time as we have a great little feast.

We welcome any hikers who wish to bring some good food that they may carry with them on the hike and will want to share with other hikers. Keep in mind that the hike will be shorter than any hike we’ve had in the past to accommodate the potluck. Try not to bring anything too big that may take too long to clean up or may be too heavy to carry. Other than that, you should be good. You can find the hike details at the following link:

Welcome to LA Trail Hikers v2.0

We welcome everyone to the new version of the LA Trail Hikers website!  We’ve upgraded and got many new features for you to use.  If you are a returning user, you may need to re-upload an avatar (otherwise you’ll have the dark shadow figure as your default).  We will be adding new functionality as conditions allow.  However, we do hope you enjoy this cleaner version.
