HIKE DISTANCE: 4.75 miles
HIKE DURATION: 3 Hours (Approx.)
MEETUP LOCATION:
Hellman Park Trailhead
5700 Greenleaf Ave.
Whittier, CA 90601
PARKING: There is limited free parking at the meeting location. However, if you cannot park there, you may park in surrounding residential streets where no special permit is required. For this reason, we ask that you come a little earlier in case you need to walk to the meeting point/trail head.
HIKE WALKTHROUGH: Continuous steep uphill for the first half mile which includes on hill that will have a quick gain and steep incline. This is a strenuous and definitely not a walk in the park-type intense work-out! Hikers must be well prepared to meet this challenge. We’ll end up at one of the water towers up at the top for beautiful views of the city and beyond. Your effort will make it all worth it.
WATER REQUIRED. WATER CHECK WILL BE PERFORMED. If you do not take enough water or are not appropriately equipped for this hike, you will be turned away from doing this hike with us even if you show up. Please note, that we have expectations for Level 5 hikers. Read all the details.
REQUIREMENTS: WATER (at least 1.5 to 2 liters). Comfortable hiking/sports shoes with good grip.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Carpool if possible, hiking poles, sunscreen, and a good break snack.
RECOMMENDED: Bring plenty of water, snacks, hat, sunscreen- very little/no shade.
DOG FRIENDLY?: Okay, but only experienced dogs and must be on leash – please pack water for them! You must pick up after them.

MY FRIEND SAID I CAN DO THIS HIKE, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT, RIGHT?
We take your safety quite seriously, and would not like for you to attend a hike you’re not ready for. You know your body and hiking experience better than your friends. Whether you are a first-timer or an experienced hiker, please read our hike details page as the hike may not suite your experience level. We have a better experience if every hike has hikers of the intended level.
