CARAVAN TO TRAILHEAD: The hike lead will explain the following when driving to the trailhead:
This hike is located approximately 40 miles east of Downtown LA.  Exit I-210 in Azusa and take Azusa Ave (Hwy 39) north for 11.6 miles to the East Fork Road junction.  Cross the bridge and drive 3.3 miles, bear right into Shoemaker Canyon Road (also marked with a sign 2N11 -Not A Through Street).  Drive another 1.8 miles  to the locked yellow gate (trailhead).  There is ample parking in the day use area located at this dead end street.

HIKE WALKTHROUGH:  We will begin the hike on an unpaved road for 1.7 miles until reaching the first tunnel which is about 400 yards long.  The hike continues along Shoemaker Canyon for another 3/4 mile until reaching the 2nd tunnel which is about 250 yards long.  The trail ends at the end of the 2nd tunnel.  Along the way, there are some magnificent views of the East Fork Gorge.

MY FRIEND SAID I CAN DO THIS HIKE, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT, RIGHT?
We take your safety quite seriously, and would not like for you to attend a hike you’re not ready for.  You know your body and hiking experience better than your friends. Whether you are a first-timer or an experienced hiker, please read our hike details page as the hike may not suit your experience level. We have a better experience if every hike has hikers of the intended level.
