Volunteer Opportunity in Santa Monica Mountains

Hi LA Trail Hikers!

The UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation will be implementing a survey of visitors to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area this June. On Sat 6/16, Thurs 6/21, Sun 6/24, and Wed 6/27, they will be surveying visitors to the park to help understand visitor rates, activity patterns, and attitudes of visitors to help inform future park investments in visitor services and trail management.

They’ve reached out to us to send them some great volunteers for this project!

They are seeking responsible and detail oriented volunteers who will be stationed in pairs at different trailhead entrances. Volunteers will survey visitors in the mornings (8am-1pm) and afternoons (4pm-8pm). Volunteers can sign up for as many shifts/days as they are available and volunteers will attend a training session, so no survey experience is necessary.

This will be a fun opportunity to spend some time in the Santa Monica Mountains and also help the National Park Service.  Learn how you can enhance trails to best serve diverse visitors!

Interested volunteers should email Graduate Student Researcher Kyra Skye, [email protected] , for more information. Let Kyra know you are part of the LA Trail Hikers!
